Transcription: On the surface, Nine Men's Morris appears to be a very simple game, nothing more than a glorified tic-tac-toe. But once you begin playing, a very different picture emerges. The two phases of the game, the placement phase and the dragging phase, employ very different strategies. Patterns that are a threat in one phase can be ignored in the other. Add the complex strategies used in capturing and blocking, What results is a game that requires your child to shift mental frameworks, to throw out one set of strategies, and to adopt a new set as the game moves from one phase to the next.
